As demolition started on the officers mess scaffolding and film sets went up around the conference room/gymnasium building.

This film set was for Peter Jackson's lord Of The Rings trilogy, with this particular set being the village of Bree.

Who back in the 1980's would have thought there would be filming undertaken on a military base in New Zealand, for a large multi-million dollar movie production produced by a New Zealander..
